Spirit Day 2008
Friday, October 24 was our annual Spirit Day. What exactly is Spirit Day? It is a time when our entire school community comes together. We come together to worship God; we come together to celebrate all the fun Spirit Day brings; and we come together from many different grades to get to know each other better.
This year our school theme is "Weaving Hopes and Dreams." Do you know that weaving means to put things together or connect things together into a whole piece? In church, the morning of Spirit Day everyone began the weaving process, and through the course of the day everyone continued to weave ideas, friendships, laughter, fun and, perhaps, their hopes and dreams. All of the students, teachers, and staff were invited to come together:
M= to meet new students, merge ideas, and make new friends,
E=to be energized and enthusiastic about this great day,
T=to talk to each other and be thankful for our school,
R=to rejoice and be ready to have some fun,
O=to have a good outlook about others and be proud of ourselves.
Metro is a school with differences in religions, languages, skin colors, ability levels, nationalities, and family structures. By weaving all of our differences together we make our school and each other stronger. Spirit Day is a day we pray together, have fun together, and get stronger together!
