Celebrating International Peace Day
Students in Room 112
celebrated International Peace Day by holding hands, praying, and sharing their
words of peace with each other.
Our class read ÔPeace Is A
Bright DelightÕ by Gay Montague and Erin Wise and ÔThe
Peace BookÕ by Todd Parr. These stories helped build ideas for the studentsÕ
ÔPeace BricksÕ.
After listening to the
stories, students created ÔPeace BricksÕ. They colored symbols and wrote how
they show peace to others.
Each brick symbolized the individual promise students made in order to ensure peace both inside and outside our classroom.

Students attached their
bricks to a tri-fold and signed their name above the ÔPeace BricksÕ.
The ÔPeace WallÕ stands in
our classroom for all to see. It is a commitment to the promise of peace in
room 112 and Metro Catholic School.

Erupting Volcanoes!
The students in room 112
learned about volcanoes, volcanic ash, and how they help form and change our
land.

Using modeling clay and plastic cups, students created their very own erupting volcanoes.

By mixing baking soda, dishwasher detergent, vinegar, and food coloring, students were able to make their volcanoes erupt.
